Video/Action
[Orihime didn't need any prompting to leave the hospital. It was unfamiliar, and there was something definitely wrong about it that made her uneasy. Quietly rubbing the sore side of her neck, she steps outside, and blinks. Everything looks so...alien. There's nothing out here that she recognizes, and she's sure she's never been in this place before...but that much was obvious when the smiling man indicated the city's name. Proxima Gamma. It sounds a little futuristic, but for reasons she attributes more to confusion than anything, she can't feel excited about that.]
[Hesitantly she takes a few more steps, coming to a stop on the sidewalk. No one's face looks familiar to her either. She reaches out with her spiritual senses, and although she feels several strange soul signatures in the city, none of them match those of her friends.]
[She walks a little further, turning her head to examine as much of her surroundings as she's able to drink in with wide eyes.]
[Finally, after about ten blocks of aimless wandering, she finds a bench. Sits down. And exhales. It's not a dream; she's far too lucid, and her dreams are much weirder than this. All she knows is that she won't be able to make sense of this city alone. The smiling man indicated that there were others here that she could communicate with via the tablet she'd tucked under her arm. Now that she's sitting, she rests the tablet on her lap, and fiddles with it. Seems to be working, just as he'd said it would. She brushes her thumb over the screen, then decides it can't hurt to send a message. There might be someone here she knows, and if that's the case, this will make it easy to reconnect.]
[And so it is that Orihime's face appears on the screen as she holds the tablet out with both hands.]
Eeto...like this, right?
[She can't tell if it's recording or not. Well, if she's doing it right, someone will answer, so she shouldn't fret. She laughs sheepishly, letting go of the tablet with one hand to rub the back of her head.]
Ah ha ha! Please excuse me! I haven't used one of these before. My name is Orihime Inoue. I was wondering how many people are here? Did you wake up in the hospital too?
[Her hand drifts to the spot between her neck and shoulder, her smile momentarily subdued.]
Any information you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
[Orihime bobs her head faintly, then leans slightly as she waits. There has to be someone else here in similar circumstances...right?]

[The girl on the other end was chuckling far too much considering the situation. New arrivals. She'd been wondering when this would happen again. Leaning forward and resting her chin on her fingers, she grinned at the strange, pretty young girl and shrugged lightly.]
A few weeks ago, yes. You may call me Chloe, if you wish. I can tell you quite a few things, though I imagine you might not like many of them.
no subject
Oh, thank you! It's nice to meet you, Chloe-san.
[As for not liking what she's about to hear, Orihime's smile turns lopsided.]
I suppose it's true, I probably won't! But...
[The smile fades as she regards the tablet seriously.]
I think honesty is better than delicacy right now. Please feel free to be blunt.

no subject
[She's glad for the praise, and then quiets so she can listen politely to Chloe. Her gaze is a mix, equal parts serious and curious. So the smiling man hadn't lied. That was a small comfort. At the last, Orihime tips her head back thoughtfully.]
Oh! That was the impression I got too!
[Especially since he'd failed to mention why she was here, or why she was plucked up out of everyone else. She has some impressive powers, but she's certainly not strong enough to be a prime target. She's dying to ask, but in favor of not being rude, she waits to see if Chloe says anything about it.]
no subject
[Oh, she wouldn't have to wait long. This was one of those things Chloe liked doing, breaking bad news about the world she was trapped in to other people, whether this world or another. It was kind of fun to see their reactions. Her lips pursed upwards, grin impish.]
They've already done it to a few of us. Their experiments all seem to revolve around sex somehow. I have no idea why yet, but it could be that they're just creepy, strange little pervs.
no subject
[She can't even bring herself to say the word. Predictably, the color rises fast on her face, spreading from her cheeks to stain the entirety of her countenance. Sadly, she can't think of anything to say in response to that. Naturally she wants to know why, but Chloe already said she doesn't know.]
It's...I mean...
[She grips the tablet a little tighter.]
They can't just force people to do that, can they?
no subject
They can find ways to make you wish you'd agreed sooner.
[She kept the bitter chuckle and looked away before her usual face settled back in. Life was better if you had something to laugh at.]
Oh, but you should know how. That bump in your neck? Not long ago, it pumped something into me. Changed my mood, made me violent, angry and it gave me such urges. If they pump enough into you, you won't care. You'll want it.
no subject
[And she is sorry. It must have been far more difficult, to face that situation without knowing it would come. And that's going to happen to Orihime too, isn't it? It's a hard truth to accept, but what can she do? Scream? Cry? That won't help, and it won't make her feel any better.]
And the ones responsible...they can't be reached?
no subject
And no, not yet anyway. [She shrugged.] They hide behind these useless robots and a few bureaucrats. For now? I think survival, and making the best of the situation is in order.
no subject
It might not be surprising, but that doesn't mean it's deserved.
[She smiles a little, eyebrows creased inward.]
But you're right. Sympathy isn't really what either of us need right now, ne? This is a big island.
[It is an island, isn't it? Orihime got that impression when she saw the glimmer of the ocean in the distance.]
There must be some way in and out. I should look around and get a better idea of what this place is.
no subject
[Oh, there were ulterior motives involved. Chloe got a certain satisfaction out of seeing people out of sorts. That, and winning brownie points with pretty girls was usually a good thing in her opinion, especially since she preferred women... barking up the wrong tree or not.]
mmm, my sympathy won't help you, no. I can, however, offer to cook something for you if you'd like, and a bit of advice. Be leery of the south side of town while you wander.
The robots there aren't all safe. We wouldn't want you to get yourself hurt, now would we?
no subject
[And she'd never say no to a home-cooked meal, that's for sure. But that's the second time robots have been mentioned, and her curiosity is definitely piqued.]
I'll be careful, then. Ah...what kind of robots are there?
[Because she kind of wants to see them.]
no subject
[She paused and considered for a moment before she chuckled to herself. Her place was little more than squatter's rights for now. It wouldn't do at all.][Which, of course, was also a way for the creepy little thing to know exactly where Orihime lived, but she wasn't going to say that.]
no subject
[There's been no mention of laser beam eyes, and that's a little disappointing. Still, maybe they at least look like robots. Or have a monotone buzz to the way they talk.]
no subject
No, not so much guard as they are the only ones we talk to. The scientists simply don't meet us in the first place. That screen? As close as you'll come to one of them that we've seen so far.
[She laughed.]
Now then, why don't we go, find you an apartment so I can fix you dinner? I can tell you the little I know while we go. You should have a bank card, right?
no subject
[She holds it up, then flips it over, studying it curiously.]
So this is what we use to pay for groceries?
[She's a little hesitant to ask how it gets filled up again. If it's tied to the experiments, she's going to be doing a lot of meager meals to make that money stretch as far as it'll go.]
They don't make us pay rent after putting us here, do they? I've never heard of charging prisoners rent before.

Hi! I hope this isn't too late (I forgot to track the comm through my email. *blush*)
The rooftops, of course.
But even ninja need to come down from there, and Sheena had just done that to get something to eat and recharge when she spots Orihime sitting on the bench ahead. They really hadn't spoken to each other when she had been on Atia, and Sheena's hesitant to approach her--until she hears her ask about the device and ask for information.
That tells the ninja that the other girl doesn't remember Atia and the things that had happened there.
Which may or may not be a good thing.
Coming up beside her, Sheena gives her a friendly smile. ]
Do you need some help?
Never too late, I'm always okay with backtagging!
Oh, yes, please! Thank you very much!
[This new person seems friendly and helpful -- exactly what Orihime needs right now.]
I just woke up in that hospital and was trying to get my bearings.
\o/!
Don't mention it.
[ She nods towards the device. ]
Didn't they give you a map when they gave you that?
no subject
Did they? Eeto...
[She puts the tablet down and picks up the packet that held her bank card to see if she got a map too. Nothing... But that's because the map is programmed into the tablet and she hasn't found it yet.]
I don't think so. Maybe they forgot.
I think my life has finally gone on an even keel. (Corporate inspection had us busy for 2 weeks)
Yes, they did. It should be--
[ Oh. They hadn't told her anything, it appears. ]
Ummm. You won't find it there. It's in here.
[ And she picks up the tablet and holds it out to her. ] I can show you if you like.
No worries!
[She smiles apologetically, but gratefully, and accepts the tablet with a word of thanks.]
That's much better. ...We're on an island...?
no subject
You'd think it would be, but I guess it's easier to put one map in a lot of these things than have someone draw and print up so many. [ Not to mention less chance of being lost. ]
Yeah. [ She nods and looking up, points to the map. ] We're here, and the apartments they've set aside for us are riiiight here. [ And her finger travels slowly across the screen, not touching it, since she doesn't want the map to move. ]
Have you been there yet?
no subject
[She watches the screen with intense curiosity, as though to absorb every tidbit of information she can possibly learn about how to use it from Sheena's expertise. So that's how it's done...]
No, not yet.
[Orihime shakes her head and smiles.]
Someone named Chloe-san said she'd show me around, though. This will probably be one of the places we visit.
no subject
[ Sheena opens her mouth to offer to show her where they are, then closes it almost immediately. She should have known Chloe would have already spoken to her... ]
I know Chloe, and she'll probably be very thorough with her tour.
[ She wants to warn her about her friend, but that wouldn't be fair to Chloe, since she was trying to change--to escape everything that had happened on Atia. ]
